Lift Truck Chain Gatineau - Gatineau is a city in Quebec Province, Canada. The city of Gatineau is in Hull, an area in Western Quebec on the north shore of the Ottawa River. It is directly across from Ottawa, Ontario, the country's capital and is part of the oldest European settlement in the National Capital Region. The population of Gatineau is 265,349, and the metropolitan population of both the cities of Ottawa and Gatineau is around 1,236,324.

Gatineau was founded during the year 1800 by Philemon Wright who led numerous families, including his own, and some labourers to a site at the portage near the Chaudiere Falls. The group intended to create an agricultural community within the wilderness, but discovered a more lucrative trade in lumber. Originally known as Wrightstown, it was renamed Hull. Just recently, following amalgamation in 2002, it became Gatineau, the biggest township in the Outaouais region.

A lot of provincial and federal offices are located within Gatineau because it is really close to the nation's capital. There is a federal policy to support jobs in civil service across both sides of the Ottawa River. Several large towers house federal government offices in downtown Gatineau, such as Place du Portage and Terrasses de la Chaudière. The headquarters of the Canadian International Development Agency, Transportation Safety Board of Canada and the Public Works and Government Services Canada are located within the city.

The Canadian Museum of Civilization in Gatineau attracts thousands of tourists as does the Casino du Lac-Leamy, that hosts an annual international fireworks competition. The city of Gatineau hosts a colourful spectacle each Labour Day weekend when hundreds of hot air balloons fly in the skies.
