 Lift Truck Chain Gilbert - The city of Gilbert, Arizona is located within the states Maricopa County. The city is located just southeast of Phoenix and is part of the Phoenix metropolitan area. Gilbert encompasses roughly 76 square miles or 197 km2. It has made the fast transformation in recent years from being a community based on agriculture to a suburban centre that is economically diverse.
Over the last 20 years, Gilbert has increased its population at a very high rate. The city has expanded from 5,717 residents in 1980 to 208,453 as of 2010. The community has become a very educated and very affluent area supporting high-wage jobs in life science and health services, high technology and renewable and clean energy. It has likewise developed into the regional and corporate headquarters and offices in numerous advanced business services.
The city owes its beginning to William "Bobby" Gilbert. He provided land during the year 1902 to the Arizona Eastern Railway. This allowed them to construct a rail line between Florence and Phoenix Arizona. During 1912, because of the actions of the forces of Pancho Villa, lots of Mormans who had fled the Morman colonies within Mexico decided to settle in Gilbert. In the year 1915, they started holding church meetings at the Gilbert Elementary School and by 1918 they had organized themselves to become the Gilbert Ward.
The city of Gilbert was known as the "Hay Capital of the World" during much of the early 20th century because the city of Gilbert was largely an agriculturally based economy in recent years. On par with the population growth in the township, the city of Gilbert has rapidly transitioned to its current status as being a modern suburb within the Phoenix Metropolitan Area.
The city of Gilbert hosts the yearly "Gilbert Days" celebration every year during late November. This festival spans 3 days that observes the paving of Gilbert Road. Other popular events in the city of Gilbert consist of the Hale Centre Theatre, the Riparian Institute, Cave Creek, Deer Valley Rock Art Centre, the Gilbert Historical Museum, the Heritage District and the Freestone Park.
The city of Gilbert boast a variety of recreational facilities, with 2 municipal swimming pools, 2 community centers and 14 parks. One of the parks has been dedicated as a skateboard park.
