 Lift Truck Chain Daly City - Known as the "Gateway to the Peninsula", Daly City is situated on San Mateo County's northern edge. The limits of the city stretch from the San Fransisco Bay which is east of the city all the way to the pacific Ocean on the west. It is conveniently situated in the middle of two of the biggest job growth parts in the state of California, the San Francisco and San Mateo counties. Although the economy in the area is very diverse, the major sectors are within small business, retail and healthcare.
The economy is largely dependent on the retail sector. Daly City has three major shopping areas within its limits, the biggest being Serramonte Center with a total of 860,000 square feet dedicated to retail space. The Mission Street retail corridor, which borders San Francisco, and the Westlake shopping centre (that offers 620,000 square feet of retail space) are the other two main regional shopping areas. The city has more than 3.1 million square feet of retail space, and out of all the cities within the county Daly City has the largest taxable retail sales.
The second largest sector in Daly City's economy is in the medical business. The biggest employer within the city is Seton Medical Center, who has around 1,500 staff. There are 357 beds in the hospital, and it holds the reputation for being among the leading medical facilities in the U.S. There are some other medical institutions within the area, like for example the Physician's Medical Center, San Francisco Heart Institute, San Francisco Neuro-Skeletal Imaging Center, Seton Medical Office, and the Spine Care Medical Group. The most recent facility in the area is the Kaiser Permanente, that comprises 130,000 square feet of medical clinics and offices. It could be located at 395 Hickey Boulevard near the I-280.
Due to the proximity of educational institutes, the staff from the area tend to be well educated. There are six universities or colleges in a ten mile radius and another twelve more educational institutes could be found within a 50-mile radius.
With a median age in the city about 35 years of age, most of the residents () are over the age of 18 years of age. The population over the age of sixty is surprisingly only 12 percent. Practically half of the workforce works in the local economy.
