There are some festivals and events which the city of Denton hosts during the year. Every springtime, Denton City presents the Jazz and Arts festival that attracts a lot of people from all around the United States. More than 300,000 people come to the annual North Texas State Fair and Rodeo and the Jazz and Arts festival. Denton was named by Scene magazine as the "Best Music Scene" in the year 2008. The Cinco de Mayo, Dog Days of Summer, Twilight Tunes, and the Fry Street Fair are amongst the other popular annual events. Racing fans are pleased to find that the Texas Motor Speedway is located roughly 14 miles south and Denton Dragway is situated approximately five miles north of the city.
