Lift Truck Chain Paradise

Lift Truck Chain Paradise - Paradise (population 223,167) is an unincorporated city within the Las Vegas metropolitan area within Nevada. Paradise is governed by the Clark County Commission in conjunction with the Paradise Town Advisory Board.

The numerous tourists who visit the area might not be aware that they are actually in the city of Paradise and not inside Las Vegas itself. The majority of the Las Vegas Strip is situated in the city of Paradise, including many of the well-known hotels like for example the Palms and Ceasars palace. Paradise is also where McCarran International Airport, University of Nevada and the MGM Grand are situated. Paradise remains rather unknown since the Postal Service of the US has assigned "Las Vegas, NV" as the place name utilized for ZIP codes within Paradise. "Paradise, NV" never appears in postal addresses. If the city of Paradise were a city that was incorporated, it would be among the biggest within Nevada.

During the year 1950, the unincorporated township of Paradise was voted in by the Clark County commission. Ernie Cragin, the mayor of Las Vegas at that time had tried unsuccessfully to expand the tax base of the city by trying to push for the annexation of the Las Vegas Strip. Cragin needed capital to be able to pay down the rising debt of the city of Paradise and finance a development proposal. A group of Strip casino executives successfully lobbied the county for township status to prevent the city of Las Vegas from annexing the land. Since then the county commission has continued to preserve its authority by limiting the expansion of Las Vegas.

Around three quarters of the population of Nevada reside within Clark County. The county supports nearly 2 million inhabitants. The Nevada Legislature formed the county in 1909. The Las Vegas Valley, a 1,600 km2 basin, consists of the unincorporated community of Paradise and Las Vegas. Before Nevada became a state, a lot of the region was part of Pah-Ute County, Arizona Territory. Clark County was named for U.S. Senator William Andrews Clark, who was primarily responsible for routing the Los Angeles and Salt Lake Railroad through the area. The railroad significantly boosted development within the area.
