Lift Truck Chain Honolulu

Lift Truck Chain Honolulu - The most populous city as well as the capital city of the state of Hawaii is the city of Honolulu. It is the most southern major city in the USA. The name "Honolulu" refers to an urban area located on the southeastern shore on the island of Oahu. In the Hawaiian language, Honolulu means "place of shelter" or "sheltered bay." Ever since the year 1845, the city of Honolulu has been the Hawaiian Islands' capital. In the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, near the city on December 7, 1941, the city gained historical recognition.

The county and city government have been consolidated as the City and County of Honolulu. This government encompasses the whole island. At the time of the 2000 Census, the population of the urban part of the city of Honolulu, which is considered to be the census-designated place by the U.S. Census Bureau for statistical purposes, was 377,357. Honolulu is a major financial center of the Pacific Ocean islands. During the 2010 Census, the population of the city and the county was 953,207. Relative to state population, Honolulu is the most heavily populated state capital.

The vary first settlements of the city of Honolulu appear to be Polynesian migrants who have been shown to be the original settlers of the island through several accounts of oral histories and artifacts. These records show that as early as the 11th century, there was a settlement where the city of Honolulu is now situated. In 1804, in the Battle of Nu'uanu at Nu'uanu Pali, after Oahu was conquered by Kamehameha I; he moved his royal court from Hawaii Island to Waiki-ki island. In 1809, his court relocated to what is now considered to be downtown Honolulu. During the year 1812, the capital was moved back to Kailua-Kona.

The city of Honolulu is the cultural center of the state of Hawaii and is where lots of landmarks and museums have been erected to be able to celebrate the island's rich history. Situated downtown are the King Kamehameha statue and the Lolani palace, that honor the Hawaiian Kingdom's royalty. The Polynesian Cultural Center in close proximity to Brigham Young University, located outside of the city offers an outdoor representation of villages from Hawaii, New Zealand, Tahiti and Fiji as well as other cultures of the Pacific. There are Hula dancing, native dancers and interactive demonstrations performed. Two events are held on an annual basis during the months of June and July.

Bishop Museum is another popular Honolulu location, sitting just north of downtown. It provides an insight into the rich history with live performances, costumes, documents and canoes.

Honolulu's economy is heavily dependent upon the industries of defense contracting, tourism and the military, manufacturing and research and development. Tourism normally brings Honolulu approximately 10 billion dollars every year. Other major economic factors are provided by aqua-culture and agriculture. The Schofield Barracks, the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and the Marine Base Kaneohe are other contributing factors to the economy.

In Honolulu's emerging economy, various sectors provide employment to the city including the industries of communication and information technologies, alternative energy, astronomy and space sciences, defense-dual use technologies, science-biotech, and marine sciences. The Kapolei region also houses one of the largest industrial parks in Hawaii. There are a variety of big shipping firms which serve the port, and the Honolulu Harbor has a well-known Foreign Trade Zone.
