Up until 1959, The Grand Central Business park used to be the Grand Central Air Terminal Building. All through WWII, the building was camouflaged to protect it from enemy attacks.
Located in the Glendale Public Library, the city has a "Special Collections" section containing a lot of the original documents of Glendale's history. The library houses the biggest collection of books on cats, thanks to the Jewel City Cat Fanciers Club, who in the year 1950 donated 20,000 volumes to the library. It is a unique collection and will be kept permanently on view for individuals who are part of the club.
A couple of popular restaurants chains started in Glendale. Bob's Big Boy hamburger restaurants started on East Colorado in 1936 and Baskin-Robbins ice cream parlors began in Adams Square during 1945.
