Lift Truck Chain Prince Rupert

Lift Truck Chain Prince Rupert - The city of Prince Rupert is located on the North Coast of British Columbia. This port city has a present population of approximately 13,000 people, but is a transportation hub for the North Coast area.

Prince George is around 718 km from the city of Prince Rupert, whereas the Alaskan border is 48 kms north, and Terrace is east around 143 kms away. It could be conveniently reached by taking the Yellowhead Highway 16 down to northwest coast of British Columbia.

The first record of human settlement dates back over 10,000 years. The region was initially established by the First Nation People and, before European contact, the inner harbor of the city was the most populous area north of Mexico. The Tsimshian Nation, the original territory of the ingenious First Nation tribe, reached from Kitasoo all the way to the mouth of the Nass River in the North to the Skeena River in the East, that is situated just past the city of Terrace.

The founder of Prince Rupert, Charles Melville Hays, dreamed of establishing the ideal port for marine trade, as well as sea and rail travel, on the island. He was the president of the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway Company.

When the city of Prince Rupert established it's two major export terminals, the local economy grew rapidly. The new economic prosperity also brought new visitors and expanded the small city's culture. The city of Prince Rupert is considered the Gateway to the North and is located on Kaien Island, that was unpopulated until around a century ago. It has access to some of the globe's most spectacular scenery.

A significant number of ocean-going freighters travel through the deepwater harbor each and every year. Cargoes of lumber, grain, mineral ore, pulp, sulphur and coal are shipped worldwide from the city, and as the Pacific Rim trade grows the port's significance would increase as well.

Throughout most months, residents can participate in ocean sport fishing, with seasons running from around late April until late September. Peak times for Chinook salmon fishing goes up until early part of August, the biggest of these salmon reach 60lb. From middle part of July to middle part of October is the best time to catch Coho salmon, that are smaller then the Chinook but fierce fighters. Pink salmon could be found from middle part of July to latter part of August. In the year 1995 the largest chum salmon within the world, weighing in at 35 lb., was caught. Halibut are also common here, as are Rockfish. One more famous activity is crabbing for Dungeness crab.

The numerous rivers and lakes in the region provide great freshwater angling. The Skeena River is amongst these, offering Rainbow, Cutthroat, and Dolly Vardan. The peak time stretches from the early part of July to middle part of September.
