 Lift Truck Chain Westminster - Westminster is situated within both the Jefferson and Adams counties within Colorado, USA. It is considered a northwest suburb of the city of Denver. Only 9 miles south-southwest of the Colorado State Capitol lies the Westminster Municipal Center. As of April 1, 2010, the population is estimated to be approximately 106,100, making it Colorado's 7th most inhabited city and the country's 237th most populated city. Westminster is a member of the Denver-Aurora-Boulder Combined Statistical Area and the Denver-Aurora-Broomfield, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area. Money magazine ranked it as the 24th best place to reside in the United State during July, the year 2006.
People started to settle within the Westminster region once the discovery of gold on Little Dry Creek in 1858. When the Homestead Act of 1862 was enacted several settlers from the east arrived, further strengthening the small community. Pleasant DeSpain was the first permanent settler in Westminster. He constructed his home on 160 acres of farmland in the year 1870. As time wore on, the area became known as DeSpain Junction. Soon after DeSpain constructed his very own house, other settlers started to follow suit. Amongst the most prominent was a horse breeder, Edward Bruce Bowles. His huge brick residence still stands at present and is being used as a local Museum. C.J. Harris was another early settler. He came from Connecticut and was a prominent real estate developer. The city was inspired to change it's name to Harris and, in the year 1911, the city of Westminster was incorporated. Nevertheless, when Westminster was incorporated it went through another name change to Westminster, to honor the local Westminster University.
Westminster proudly boasts numerous historic, artistic and recreational activities like the Bowles House Museum. This particular Museum offers an opportunity to experience colonial life and the way things were. It is situated within a farmhouse built between the years 1871 to 1876. Individuals who are interested in butterflies and insects will be drawn to the city's Butterfly Pavilion and Insect Center. There are interactive displays that provide insight into science, conservations and invertebrates. There is an absolutely amazing indoor tropical rainforest which is home to more than 1,200 live butterflies. To see a gorgeous view of the Rocky Mountains, climb up the 181 stairs at Westminster's City Hall to the bell tower. One more famous spot is the Westminster Promenade, that is an outdoor area which consists of numerous stores and entertainment venues. There are some play areas intended for kids, as well as many cafes, trails and restaurants.
There are numerous nature trails within the city of Westminster, that has an open space system. Part of this open space system is the Big Dry Creek Trail, that stretches over roughly 10 miles from Standley Lake to the eastern boundary of Westminster. There are some other trails situated along the Farmers' High Line Canal, Walnut Creek, and Little Dry Creek. Land has been preserved by the city of Westminster in the Westminster Hills area, the Standley Lake region, as well as some other areas which have historic significance to Westminster. Several facilities, like for example the City Park Recreation Center and Westminster City Park, provide interesting recreational activities for the people of Westminster. There are two beautiful golf courses in Westminster: the Heritage Golf Course at Westmoor and the Legacy Ridge Golf Course.
