Lift Truck Chain Yakima

Lift Truck Chain Yakima - Yakima is a city in Washington State, United States. Nearby is Snoqualmie National Forest and Mount Ranier National Park. Yakima serves as the county seat of Yakima County. Yakima has a population of 91,196, making it the 8th most heavily populated city within the state. The metropolitan area has a population of 243,231.

Greater Yakima consists of the unincorporated suburban areas of West Valley and Terrace Heights, all located in the Yakima Valley. The Valley is a fertile region producing among the best apples in the world. The valley is a major wine- and hops-producing region. Roughly 75 percent of all hops grown within the U.S. are grown all over Yakima.

The Yakama Indian Reservation is situated south and southeast of the city. The Yakima peoples were the areas first residents. During the year 1805, Explorers Clark and Lewis arrived within the area. Their reports of abundant wildlife and fertile soil encouraged homesteaders to reside here. During 1847, a Catholic Mission was constructed within southwest of the existing site of Yakima. Conflicts between the people of Yakima and the settlers escalated into the Yakama Indian War of the year 1855. In response, the U.S. Army established a fort during the year 1856 near the existing location of White Swan. The Yakamas were defeated by the army and the Yakama Indian Reservation was created.

Agriculture has traditionally been the economic foundation of Yakima. Abundant fruit crops, like for example pears, peaches, apples, cherries and melons, are grown in the valley. Vegetables, like for example peppers, corn and beans, grow well here. Plenty of workers who came to process, market and pick the agricultural produce of the valley stayed to become residents. Agricultural support services and agriculture provide a considerable number of jobs.

Downtown Yakima has changed considerably since the latter part of the 1990s. The retail core of the area has shifted from downtown Yakima to Union Gap, a city which lies to the south of Yakima in Yakima County. The department stores and a shopping mall of the city have been replaced with numerous hotels and call centers. Union Gap is where individuals go to shop now, in large big-box stores. The city plans to rejuvenate its downtown area with entertainment venues, and a more personal type of shopping experience.
