Lift Truck Chain Paterson - Paterson (population 146,199) is a city in New Jersey. It is situated between the Appalachian foothills and the Coastal Plain in the Piedmont region. Paterson serves as the county seat of Passaic County. It is the 3rd biggest city within the state of New jersey and part of the New York City Metropolitan Area. New York City is 48 km to the east. The city's population has decreased by 2 percent ever since 2000. Paterson was a planned community, known as "Silk City" because of the significance of silk production there in the late 19th century.

The city's existence began in the year 1792, in the minds of a group of investors referred to as the Society of Useful Manufactures (or Sum). The group wanted to raise money to develop a planned industrial city which will reduce the country's dependence on foreign products by supporting American industry. The city of Paterson was to be planned around a waterfall, called the Great Falls of the Passaic, that would provide power to new businesses to be constructed around it. Paterson was soon a reality, with numerous textile mills and other buildings springing up. It wasn't long before other industries, like silk production, firearms and railroad locomotive manufacturing, followed suit. Paterson became incorporated as a city in 1851, and silk production eventually became the main industry. Paterson truly enjoyed a thriving industrial time, being referred to as "Silk City". After a destructive fire during the year 1902, the city's downtown needed to be rebuilt.

The city of Paterson has a unique attraction, an 1893 historic building known as Lambert Castle. The Medieval Revival-style castle was the house of well-known silk mill owner Catholina Lambert. The Castle was turned into a Museum following a multi-million dollar restoration during the latter part of the 1990s.

The city of Paterson is really ethnically diverse, and the annual calendar is full of opportunities to celebrate. All summer long, parades happen on the city streets, amongst them, a Domino Day parade, an African-American Day Parade, a Puerto Rican Day Parade and a Turkish-American Day Parade. The Peruvian community of the city has a Peruvian Day Parade and 10-day festival in the month of October called "El Señor de los Milagros" ("Our Lord of Miracles").

Downtown Paterson has several Beaux-Arts-style buildings and other architectural landmarks. These huge buildings are normally no more than seven stories in height. The commercial district of Paterson was once frequented by shoppers from all over the norther part of New Jersey. Two of Paterson's architectural landmarks are the Paterson City Hall and the Passaic County Courthouse Annex.
