Fort Worth is located roughly twelve miles west of Arlington City and Dallas is located approximately 20 miles east.

The city was first founded along the Texas and Pacific Railway during 1876 and was named after General Robert E. Lee's Arlington House. It was incorporated during the year 1884. By 1910, the city had electricity, water, telephone and natural gas services in addition to a public school system. Prior to the second World War, the population increased to over four thousand.
